| eeeeerm it worked...unfortunately so did the two packets of Movicol I took this morning. Shortly after making the post this morning I mixed up some movicol double strength and skulled it... imediately I noted the ol familiar ting a ling of the back door alarm and toddled off... thanks to the senna tea.. I was blessed with a ten pounder.
However.... approximatley and hour ago the movicol hit bottom....shall we say I have learnt to run very fast.
I will be so cleaned out I will be able to yodell up my own ass and get an echo... spose its better than getting an answer back of "go away I aint coming out!

| The seeds are stronger then the leaves. I used it and it is so natural and no pain but becareful start off slowly. I use two teaspoons in a cup of water steeped for 20 minutes drain and drink. Delia | |

| Interesting. Someone from work gave me some of those, and I didn't find them nearly as strong as the actual leaves. I think the teabags have a mix of several different kinds of leaves in them.
I steeped mine for at least 5 mins. It was pretty strong tea, so no wonder the results were pretty strong too. I'm not sure if it was just the tea, or the combination of other lemon detox things that produced the effect.

| Yes mine are tea bags and honestly you only need to brew it a couple of mins. You could re use it time and again it was that strong. I made a fatal mistake and made it how the instructions said and couldn't move off the loo. | |

| I will look for them linda...last time I could only find the leaves like Loosinit described and didnt know how to use them. If I cant find lindas bagged ones I will get the leaves like loosinit and steep them.
About a Tablespoon you think...how long do you stew them for

| Did you have tea-bags Linda? I seemed to only find loose senna leaves at the health shop. There were no instructions on the packet in regard to how much to use, so I used a good tablespoon (given that the leaves were so big) in a teapot that made 2 cups. I can tell you, it cleaned out the pipes good and proper, but it did give me a belly ache, and if you can get any liquid through the eye of a needle . . . . . . . . I won't say more.
Start slow, would be my suggestion. As Linda said, you can always build up.

| OOOOOOOOOoooo not long to go now... my innards are starting to shake.
On a really TMI note this bloody bunged upness is driving me nuts. I have not had it like this since early bandind days.
Fiber is just making it worse so I am going to stop it. It has to be the opti...well I know it is but its really doing my head in . I hope that it doesnt continue after the op though I suspect with the redoing of the guts and all the pain meds I am gonna be taking it will be a cement factory till I can clean it out good and proper.
Anyone got anything to suggest. I am going in today to get some of that sienna tea loosinit used to have I want to get the build up out before surgery.
Dont want to be like the lady that died two weeks ago on the site from a bowel blockage ( she had bypass and band removal in one op) the op didnt kill her it was because she was already bunged up from the opti prior to the op then it compounded afterwards... short version is she had the op then 2 weeks later couldnt keep anything down and still hadnt passed a movement and was in belly pain.
Rushed to hospital and into theatre where they manually removed the blockage but she aspirated vomit during the op... ended up in ICU but sepsis from the vomit in her lungs took her 2 days later.
She was 35 with young children and a husband.
Very sad but the lessoned learned is...dont get bunged up!

| Same as post band op.. exactly so I know what Im getting in to. In hospital its ice chips for the first few hours then on to clear fluids. When you go home its free fluids so soup with no lumps etc. you know the drill if it goes up a straw its fair game.. after that its puree or start up slightly thicker soups no lumps ...then mush.
Same time period for both proceedures for that stage so it will be like dejavou a bit.
Since my doc started me on pre op nexium I have had zero hunger..which is a good thing and have to prompt myself to eat something.
I had a shake for breakfast yesterday and got to 4 oclock and though shit I didnt eat lunch so I had my bar but didnt want tea. Eventually I had soup but didnt get in my other protein meal of shake or bar.
Perhaps all I need is nexium and not the sleeve...nah I am a professional fatty I will work round it.
I think its the combo of nexium combined with the high protein diet that has reduced all need for food...what ever it is I am embracing it heartily

| You are doing well zipps. You probably won't feel very hungry after the surgery and it will be easy to stick to the rules. What are the rules? | |

| it doesnt get much better with menopause trust me Rose.
Well I am 4 kilos down. I guess thats something.... not the 10 of my counterparts on the sleeving thread but my BMi is significantly lower than theirs too so that makes a huge difference.
My days are numbered on optifast... but as we all know the worste is yet to come... the liquids, puree and mushy stage.
At least on opti if one had a cheat moment then you picked yourself up and moved on but in the following stages a mear mouthfull can cause monumentous damage. I am not looking forward to this. Though having said that, I am not in the position of the others where I am coming off a truely decadant lifestyle of food but from a reduced diet due to the band so hopefully I deal with it more conservatively than I would have if I had been used to huge feeds of KFC and junk food in enourmous rates on a daily basis.
In short my lifestyle diet was curbed somewhat by the band and I did ( and I will deny admitting this) learn to eat differntly and a large amount of that head space clung even after band removal.
Any way what can I do about it. It will be what it will be...no use fighting it
