Debs I go to the Dr in the morning. The pain is only very slight sometimes
could feel it last night but I have not had zantac for the last 2 days. I
wanted to see how it would go without it. I can just feel it slightly now. It
was bad a week ago and would not give up thought I would have to go to the emergency
two nights.

To me if felt like it was raw inside and if I ate anything slightly acid it
would burn the hell out of me like you said something clawing and then a few
extra shots of pain thrown in. Nothing calmed it down until I took the zantac
and it helped within a few minutes.

Only just home sorry about the late reply

You've got no choice now Zip, PB protein is coming your way. Tara is a sweetie. You're a sweetie Tara.

Linda or Losingit or Delia, if you guys would like to try some i'm only too happy to share. I have a BIG tub of it so its no problem to pop some in the post. Can you have it on Dukan Delia? Anyway girls, the offer is there if anyone wants some.

Yeah Zip i was bit thrown by her response too. Maybe he talks about it all with her so she's heard how he's a bit over all the band difficulties people are now having and she's being like a bodyguard or something. Part of me feels like going down the road to Dr Petrou and saying 'ive got a band, i've got pain, what's going on'... but i'd never do that. I do understand that Dr P must be very busy. Just out of interest, has anyone ever heard anything about Dr Petrou in Port? He has a website but i couldn't find any testimonials or discussions about him anywhere. I would never go and see him but i'm a bit curious as to what he's like.

Ms Doo Dah,

Want me to send you down some of mine ??
I can just chuck it in to a zip lock bag and throw it in the post tomorrow.

In fact, can I insist .. as you were super awesome to put us on to Vitacost in the first place and ya didn't even claim the referral discount you were entitled to and I ordered more stuff from there today so it will not leave me short.

Off to put it into a clean bag now so you can not say no. (Sneaky huh!)
Just PM me the postal address.

DONE .. SITTING AT FRONT DOOR READY TO GO. (I move like lightening for a fat chic !!!)

Tara

Thats a weird response from her Deb... dont know what the go is there.

I have some plain choc shake here so I should be right, its not PB but a caramel choc one. I dont have it everyday but sometimes I just fancy the PB sake... I love the taste of the PB one actually.

My tub lasted me about 5 months and it doesnt go off or anything...I hope I enjoy the narna as much. I dooooo love narna paddle pops so I am hoping its somewhat the same then I can freeze it into icypole molds for summer.

Well i rang Dr P and spoke to kylie...told her i still had the pain (same pain i rang her about a week and half ago) and wondered if it was possible to make an earlier appointment with him (instead of waiting the six weeks.) I said i would be up that way tomorrow so i coulp pop my head in if he could spare 5mins and she said he would be in threatre. So i asked for an earlier appointment and she said she'll get him to ring me instead but it might not be for a week or so as he's very busy. You never know, he might find five mins and ring me in a day or two. So its a wait and see now.

I wish she could have just made an earlier appointment though, don't know why she wouldn't :(

Thanks Linda, i could try that. Might ring him today. Its weird as last night i felt pretty much fine. ???

Thanks for that info Zip...hopefully i will not need the endoscope or gastroscope or whatever it is. Bet i've got a stretched opening and floppy pouch too. How embaressing does that sound! Sounds like some whorey kangaroo. LOL I used McRipoff the gasman too and he was so expensive. Will defo ask to use the other one you said...Ann...sounds much more reasonable. I wonder why peck sends us to the overcharger? That peck needs a good peck on the head sometimes.

Hey Zip i just got my bit tub of PB protein powder yesterday so if you want some i've got heaps of it. It wouldn probably take me six months to get through what i've got so i whack some in a container for you if you want.

Well done Tara and Rose.

Debs see if you can get an appointment on Thursday before you go. Say you are going to see the dietician and are really worried about the pain you are experiencing. It won't take him long to organise a gastroscopy or whatever it is.

No Debs no endoscopy prior to removal but did have one months before to find the reason for reflux which showed the enlarged and floppy pouch and a stretched eseophigal opening.

I am going with Ann...something this time who is the other gas person Nige uses...she is much much cheaper and you only pay the gap after you recive all your rebates...the other bloke makes you pay up front. The secretary for this ann said that he over charges cos he is estimating the costs at an inflated value because no gas person can know how much to charge till the op is over as it goes on time not proceedure.

So that explains why I have been paying through the frigging neck with the Mc whatever his name is gas man.

P.S Im glad your getting the pain checked out by him.

So Tara and Deb what flavour did you get... I got narna this time for a change but wish now I had got the PB again as I just ran out of it. I ordered my tub after you did so I dont expect it for another week.

Hey loosinit how were your bars...would you suggest them and what where they

Well done Tara and Rosebud. My protein powder came today too! I haven't tried it yet though...will have some tomorrow. Its a huge tub isn't it! Such a bargain. Thanks Zip!
Oh Zip, i forgot to ask...did you go in for an endoscopy with peck before you had the band out? I'm just wondering about fees....will i have to pay for the gasman if he does it? I have hospital cover but if this is classed as another surgery....jebus....i might have to get him to do me while i'm still conscious (that sounds a bit wrong doesn't it LOL)

Thanks Zip i will. I'm going to port on thursday to see the dietician and she is just behind peck so i will go and see kylie in person and get my appointment changed to a closer one and mention the pain...i might even be in pain at the time...its weird as it comes and goes. It was bad last night and this morning i woke up and felt it mildly but then it faded over the day and i barely felt anything. I almost feel like i imagined it. But i know it was bad as my partner was a bit worried.

I feel pretty good now in comparisson to last night....just a mild knawing feeling but nothing dramatic. Its strange though, you never know when it could come back hey.

I don't blame you Linda, i wouldn't want more fill in mine either. Its so nice to have some steak! And tonight i had some chinese food and i didn't choke or spew, such a nice feeling.
Thanks again girls for your advice and support
Big hugs to you all

Deb ring doc peck and tell them what is going on.. I dont like the sound of it and at the end of the day it all goes towards removal if you go through peck...the Gp wont consider slippage or erosion or anything like that and it needs to be ruled out by someone experienced in the symptoms.

He will prob put you in for a down the throat or a swallow to check you havent slipped which really does need to be done.

Honestly go back to Peck, pain like your experiencing needs to be checked and given you have had a band post 2 years when things start to turn tail you need to be all over it... or ring Kylie but go back to them!

If it is simply acid then he can give you the nexium but he will note that you are starting to degrade and it will work for you with removal.

But at this point please get that pain checked by a specialist in the area and not just a prescription writer.

No I don't want any more fill. It was too tight and I think that was a sign. I like to be able to eat a bit of steak.

I wonder if it is your band or gall bladder. Very strange. I have some nexium that I found in the pill drawer and I didn't know it was on script. I have no idea how I got it. It isn't mine. My husband has hartburn but just takes mylanta. Very weird.

Tara I should join you but i know i wouldn't stick to it..i am trying to eat lighter though as my tum is giving me real grief. Going to mention it to my GP tomorrow and maybe i can get a script for nexium. I was curled up in bed last night clutching my stomach..felt like like an angry possum in there going mental with its claws. Last night was the worst i've felt it so i'm guessing its getting worse. It was like i could feel it through to my kidneys or something. My partner gave me one of his nexiums and i had three quickeze and a glass of milk and it JUST took the edge off. I've only had it quite mild today though so thats something.

That makes Zip about the band...like your body is starting to reject it or something. That's what my man said last night...like my body was probably trying to reject it. I wonder why it would start now when its been relatively ok for two years... must have the puking or all the bad slider foods and eating too much of them because they went down. Stoooooopid deb, that'll learn me!
Are you taking nexium Delia or still on the zantac...does it seem to be helping?
Linda that would be awful coughing up food. You poor thing. I'm glad its a bit better though. I wonder if your doc will put fill back in when your cough stops? I wonder if the cough is some sort of body reaction to the band? You poor bugger.

Tata I am back on the 'dukan if not I would have joined you.

ACID

I have a feeling that drinking has caused the acid to start in my stomach. As Linda reminded me I had it before and both times it was when I had drank and had nothing much else in my stomach and went to bed and woke up with this. Last time it was the horrible taste like your bowls in your mouth and some pain this time it was just pain. I am feeling good but will still go to the Dr on Thur when we get home.

Deb hope you are feeling better.

LOL you girls are crazy

Debs I had some fill out on 17 Aug. I had developed this cough and sometimes it was so bad I would cough up food. It seems to have eased but not gone altogether.

Tara I am around the same weight as you and it is about the same regain as well.

three words Tara... extra strong jelly!

I found through my opti stages if I made up diet jelly with less water so the jelly was tougher it filled me with no calories when I was hungry... I made 3 layered flavours and it was my go too for filling the hole.

I still have some in the fridge now for when I want something sweet of a night.

I tried the couch to 5k program...but only made it from couch to fridge...sadly I am a hopeless case.

Debs,

I'm Day 1 of shakes (YET a-bloody-gain).

If you wanna join me in a bit of a Pouch Test/ Shakes/ Detox/ Cleanse/ DIET I'd absolutely LOVE the company and although I plan on whinging my arse off (and I reserve the right to do so in the future) today has actually been pretty easy going. No major headaches and not too starving.

Might try some sort of vegie mush low cal soup for dinner tomorrow night as I am REALLY missing the whole chewing thing but truly I am not really hungry.

Oh, and I have moved my bathroom scales in to the kitchen. So I cannot help but weigh myself regularly and the whole you are a fatty boom bah AGAIN Tara thing cannot be avoided any longer !!! Drastic times and all that.

This morning's weigh in ... 93.6 kgs. 2008 Junies and Friends - Page 12 345554
That's a gain of 14 shameful kgs from my lowest weight.

Today's Calories .... 639 (I am allowing myself up to 1300 Calories Per Day)

Exercise ..... 7 mins briskish walking (hahahaha I KNOW this is sooooooo bad but it's better than nothing!)
I have decided to start gently with the exercise and attempt to do the Couch to 5k Program but slowly - my way. Watch this space - something MAY (or may not) happen.

So girls, anyone else in? In any way shape or form ?
Delia, You are Dukaning again right ?
Lida Pinda?
Losin it ?

Nite All
Tara

Ha ha my bloody tummy has just started grumbling away at me. So I shall hide in bed and pretend I am not hungry.

Doc told me that its the band that causes the acid if you didnt suffer with it prior to the band...which I didnt.

Something about the response of the body to the mechanical device. He said at the time that he doubted I would suffer acid with the sleeve as it is a different mechanism all together.

He was right. I dont take the nexium any more and am completely medication free and have no issues at all. I can even eat chilli with out lava flowing now.

I am completely as I was preband...which I am so releived about because permenantly suffering from acid was my greatest fear with the sleeve.

I suspect that the acid burn is due to slight stretching so under eating or liquids for 2 weeks to allow the pouch to bounce back used to work for me in the beginning...howerver as time went on it was less effective so I would say the pouch just got unable to spring back even with no fill and liquids only for a fortnight.

You could try going back to a measured amount of mushies to take the strain off your belly for a few weeks and see if it returns you to normal function.

Mind you why should you freaking have to... it shouldnt happen at all!

Thanks Zip...acid huh? I was wondering but thought it can't be as i couldn't taste anything acidic in my mouth. I guess i've never had reflux before then. So its at the eating stomach stage...jebus! I wonder what, in particular, causes the reflux? ..too tight band maybe? Excessive vometing? I've done those but not had the reflux issue...i could taste the acid in my throat when i puked or got lots of slime and thought that must have been reflux....god its confusing. Thanks for letting me know though, i will let Jodie know and she if she is going to send him a report or something. If not i'll ring him and go see him earlier. I've never been on Nexium before...my man is on it for ulcers and says its good.

So glad to hear all your bloods were normal...how good is that! So pleased.

I haven't had a problem with Jodie, she's been nice to me, but it does shit me a bit how she says 'just do this, just do that'' and it'll be fine. Must be a dietican thing....

hate to tell you Debs but pain in the stomach area that is releived by eating is usually acid related.

I would say your band is starting to cause you reflux but it hasnt got to the reflux stage yet and is still at the acid eating you stage....time for nexium but you can try what Delia is doing....though if you go to doc and complain about the reflux he will have another mark against the band.

Nexium will heal the stomach lining ...zantac will only reduce the acid but wont allow it to heal. Try going with out the zantac and see if its getting better if not you might need to consider that Nexium Delia.

I was the same as Loosingit... either too loose or too tight and cos I ran my band tighter thats how I ended up with a stretched pouch... the band for me was either a frigging flood or a famine.

Bloods were all perfectly normal and he said dont take any vit tablets (which I havent for a couple of months cos I ran out but was thinking I prob should) cos I will simply over load on iron etc and make expensive pee.

Sugars and cholesterol all text book in fact cholesterol was very low and the good chol was nice and high.

Na I saw Jodie in the begining of the band and we clashed... she wanted me to eat things like bananas that I knew made my blood sugars worse....kicker was when she told me I could have a subway roll for lunch...oh please like I could get that down at 8 weeks post band.

Anywhooo I never went back and he never made me. I guess seeing I lost 70 kilos with out her he figured I could keep winging it. I didnt have to see anyone for the sleeve. Once I went back after the 3 months of band removal and he weighed me and saw how much weight I had gained in a short period he asked me again did I want the sleeve or the band.

I said sleeve and he just booked it in for the next fortnight. I started opti straight away and the rest is history...his only comment was after I said I wanted the sleeve and he booked it was..."it really is a better option and I think its the way its going to go from now"

Linda, when did you get your .6 out? Is it still too loose or has it tightened up a bit? My doc took 2ml out and oh my god i can eat anything and everything. Its hard to find that sweet spot hey.
