| Just another bright note: my legs and ankles are like tree stumps. Hard to get shoes on, and the ankles are like muffin tops over the shoes.
It's good to be me right now!

| Not sure how long it's supposed to be before I feel the effects of increased thyroid medication. Guess it's been barely two weeks, and given that the reading was way out in January, and it was two months after that that I got results, I assume the reading would have been even worse. Still feeling very tired and lethargic.
On a positive - I think the HRT is making a difference. Seem to have fewer power surges, so that in itself has made me feel a little better.
On the weight loss side (weight loss????) . . . . . . . . I suspect I am at a two year high. I can feel the flab, nothing fits, even my face looks a lot fuller. Where does it all end? Does it end?
Wish I could rekindle just some of the spark I had when I first started out, all enthusiastic, making a dedicated effort to shift some weight. It all just seems too hard now. The great white hope has become the big black hole.
As far as exercise - what's that? I just can't believe that I used to enthusiastically embrace the daily walk, never missing out, feeling pumped when I got back.
Oh . . . . . . . . it's all in the past. Must have been another person who did all those things. Think the real me has returned with a vengeance.

| I am the same, Tracy. Was promised a massive weight loss when I started Thyroxine 22 years ago. Obviously that didn't happen. I can say that my dose has now dropped from 150mcg to 100mcg since losing 40 odd kg (and I am off my anti-hypertensives too!) | |

| well loosinit at least if they adjust your thyroid meds the weight should come off again. when my mother in laws is playing up and they adjust hers the weight comes back down and she feels much better On my account nothing is happening I have suffered atkins or 3 weeks now and where most people report massive loss...I have gained yet another bloody kilo. I see no end to this and am really getting depressed I am sooooo over deprivation and its doing my head in that I am doing all this hard work and just getting weight gain and constipation as a reward. I see the quack in a fortnight ...the poor bastard will not be a happy camper after my visit! | |

| I know exactly what you mean about going up in size, Zippy. I have had to buy new underwear as well as clothes, as I just couldn't squeeze into the other stuff any more.
However . . . . . . . . . thankfully now I have an excuse, oh sorry, a REASON, for struggling along. Had some blood tests back in January and didn't bother going for the results, as the main thing I wanted checked was to see if I had reached middle-aged woman's status. I can tell you since then, in no uncertain terms, I didn't need to have results to know that I am there. Anyway, long story short, my thyroid was also checked, and it is WAY out of whack. Have been on medication for ages, and it has been altered up and down over time, but it appears that already in January it was completely rooted, not to mention where I am probably at now. Sort of explains why I've been feeling like total crap for months.
I know it's only a contributor to weight, but at least I don't feel quite so bad about it now. Hopefully when I feel a bit more human I can get back on track. Then again, don't hold your breath for that.

| Hello everyone, thankyou for your birthday wishes it was lovely. My internet has been down and still isnt up and running fully. We live on an acreage out of town and have no broadband here and have to resort to wireless... well it sux at the moment and we are trying to get it all going again. At teh moment the reception for some reason is shocking and we are almost dialup speed.. telstra is no help at all and I am over being on hold or talking to some foreign we behind the ears kid that I can bearly understand who just doesnt give a rats armpit. So that said I am struggling with my weight and have resorted to full on Atkins to pull some of it off....who said we wouldnt have to diet again. I was a 10/12 and am now a 14/16 and I hate it, I know, I know its no where near a 28 like I once was but once you have been down, its horrible to slide back up even to a still thinner size. Baaaaaaaaaaaah stuff it all! | |

| The barium man said that if you run tight that also interferes with the full signal being sent to the brain. which helps explain why sometimes people feel they can eat more than they should which in turn can cause the stretching of the oesophagus etc. I am feeling more positive in mind set now they have said I am at a good spot with fills and not trying to up the ante for more fill and being uncomfortable when eating. It could also be that with trying to omit the starches in my diet that has made me feel so much better the stomach is so more settled and not hard and bloated. Concentrating on that at the moment rather then weight loss but hey if that's a side effect then I will be a happy girl. Hope still feelling upbeat tomorrow.. | |

| I keep wondering if I should go for a slight fill myself. Then I think about how much I struggled at times, all the gurgling, and the endless time it took to get some food down, and the constant fear of getting something stuck, all the uncomfortable times when food just stayed in one spot . . . . . . . and I tell myself it's just not worth it.
It still comes down to the fact that we have to choose what to put in our mouths. At the moment that seems like the biggest challenge. I just can't seem to get back on track. I am enjoying eating a wider variety of foods without struggle. Obviously . . . . . . . . . . I am enjoying it too much. Don't get me wrong, I can still get things stuck if I don't chew well enough or eat too quickly.
Don't think I will ever get back to the mindset I had in the beginning. I really think my effort was so concerted, too hard and too fast, and the burnout seems permanent. So much for the last time I would have to lose weight. The challenge is there forever.
Now that I'm feeling permanently crappy with power surges, boiling one minute, freezing the next, aching joints and constant headache, I really don't feel up to putting any effort into anything else. At the moment I'm struggling just to stay sane and get through each day, let alone focus on getting any weight off.
Anyone know how to change a human thermostat?

| I think there have been so many band slips and reflux problems that they have changed a bit and now recommend a looser band. | |

| Had Berium swollow today all good and they would not recomend adding more fluid maybe just a tweek. Was a little surprised as thought I was running lose. But now have to reasses how I persive the band too work. Its so easy on the talk pages to get cought up and go to tight. At this stage can eat about anything and the heart burn is but all gone but its like the fear of eating is not there any more. I have to get back into the mind set of eat healthy and exercise. | |

| or 58 LOL
Yeah I should just suck it up and enjoy my life. My friend is very slim but her breast cancer has returned to her other breast. She has already fought hard and had that one removed. She is not up for the battle again and is just having the lump removed and having radiation. Sometimes we don't realise that we have it good.
