I'm guessing 2 long sleeve t-shirts & jeans (which is my Winter "uniform" here) is not gunna cut it down your way.

Doesn't especially bother me that's it's crap weather. All the better for sleeping after my nightshift!

Nothing like changeable weather to keep you on your toes.

I don't qualify on either of those counts. Not a mother, and the oven was ripped out years ago. I take your sentiment though.

Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful Mums. Where would anyone be without their mother? A grossly underestimated and undervalued profession.

bring 1/2 cup water to a boil in a saucepan. Add 1/2 tsp minced ginger, 1 clove minced garlic and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Allow the mixture to boil for about one minute, and then remove from the heat. Add 1 tbsp. raw honey and the juice from one lemon. Stir the mixture well and allow it to cool to a drinkable temperature

Aaaaaaaaah ya poor begga... loosinit is under the weather too but not with a cold.

My kids have a similar sounding disease at the moment and both have needed antihistimines and antibiotics by doctors orders to clear it up.

Dont know what it is but its a hanger onera... it just wont leave once it gets ya, touch wood I have been lucky and avoided it. Hubby rang me last night and he has started with the scratcy throat etc so sounds like he is going down the plug hole too.

You will have to try Jans remedy Linda... I swear that stuff scares the flu outa ya!

stall broke... still handling solids really well... still no issues with any foods I have tried including steak, beef jerky etc... just get full quickly and it lasts for a long time... and yes its a normal full sensation not a band type full sensation.

No bad side effects. Though I have heard of others in months ahead who have tried to eat past being full which results in pain, the sweats, feeling sick, sometimes vometing and reflux.... so pretty much the same as when you gourge yourself to the point of over stretching a normal tummy.

I have no desire to go there and am satisfied after all these years of a painful "full responce" to embrace the comfy full I missed so much.

I do still get hungry between meals if I go too long but it is very mild and can be ignored. I also suspect its head stuff because it falls around 4 oclock and after tea. A cuppa always cures it.

So trudging on...pretty happy so far. Glad I didnt get a tiny size 32 sleeve ( these are the ones that struggle with over full and reflux) I have a 34 and its just right. Cant get a lot down but what I do get down is enjoyable.

PostSubject: Re: 2008 Junies and Friends   2008 Junies and Friends - Page 28 Empty08/05/12, 10:16 pm

I have hit a plateau again... I have been expecting the journey to be like this because I have a small number to lose.

I am introducing solid foods now. I have had steak and lamb with no issues, just small amounts but no pain or adverse reactions. Just normal eating responces.

Went to sydney this last weekend and ate out all the time.. I chose entrees for my meals and finished a 1/4 of most and passed the rest over to my hubby. Had drinks at night, 1 was enough.. oddly it would have been 3 or 4 before.

So far so good. But I am taking it slow, sticking to 1/4 cup measures and listening hard to being full. It is hard because I have had 4 years of band full signals now going back to normal full signals is difficult because I have all but forgotten what they are.

I have found stopping when I am not hungry is the point... as after that it all slides down and Im full. If I kept eating till I was full it would all slide down and I would be sick, sweaty and feeling ill.

As we know though, the taste buds are wicked at convincing us that we need more... so I am hoping I can keep on this track.

Ok Bypass is different because of the re routing to the bowel and blockages of the bowel, which are common with this op and will land you in hospital, this does not happen with the sleeve. So no it would be the same linda.

Andy must be eating too fast to be dumping so much. I have only experienced it once, with chocolate...not a bad thing...other than that I have found if I eat slow Im fine with everything else.

Dumping occurs when the stomach empties too quick into the bowel...as with eating too much sugar or fat or eating way too fast. My doc said it usually passes around the 6 month mark.

I had it happen last night when I thought that 3 of those tiny choc eggs would be fine... na ahhh... way too much and I got the sweats and wasnt sure if I would throw up or get the squirts... it lasts about 30 mins... sure makes you avoid the food again. It kind of feels like when you have had that one drink too much that pushes you into the "I feel sick zone'

He will get the hang of it. And yes its much easier if you have had the band first as he said and learnt the rules and have them ingrained.

It is very quiet in here! Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

In my obtaining quotes for travel insurance allianz were the ones who said any surgery or specialist. I emailed them and asked if gastric banding was covered under pre existing and they said yes if you haven't seen the surgeon or been in hospital for the last 2 years WTF I emailed back that it is an ongoing condition and you have to see your surgeon at least once a year. Not that I do but I am supposed to and I think it is under 2 years since I last saw him anyway.

They are such slippery suckers I am almost tempted to get the band out and have a sleeve to stick it up em.

From Andy on FB

Hey
guys, 24 days post sleeve surgery. Weight loss has slowed but is still
going. 14 kilos down now. Have to say its much tougher getting back to
eating than with the band. Still on liquids and mushed veg. There isn't
much I can eat without dumping. Dumping is when you feel I'll, get a
little sweaty and just generally feel ick. Have to really be on my game
to make sure I get in enough energy and nutrients to keep me going. So
far I'd have to say the weight loss is much quicker however if I had my
time over I'd still much prefer to have the band first. Make it work for
you guys. Your much better off than needing to go to the next step!

I have checked another few sites now for travel insurance. They all bring up gastric banding, gastric bypass and gastric cancer. No mention of sleeve. It seems simpler now to find your condition on the list than a few years ago.

LOL I will get another quote on covermore. It gives the options of pre existing one of which was the band. Another one was gastric bypass but I didn't look closely to see sleeve. Wouldn't bypass be classed the same as sleeve though? No foreign body in your body. I just don't trust them Trish. They will grasp at any straw to not pay.

Anyway I had a win with my existing insurance. I rang to change the date of departure to 11.30pm the night before our insurance was for as we had to get new flights. I changed the date and made sure it was a current and valid policy. They said it was and changed the dates. Alan said did I tell them I had made a claim and I said no. So I rang back and said I had made a claim and was it still valid and they said no it wasn't. I had a bit of a discussion about it and they said I had been paid for cancellation and I said it is not cancelled we are still going. Where in the PDS does it say that it is no longer a valid policy? They couldn't tell me and after tooing and froing they said it was still a valid policy and we are covered for the holiday. I had the shits because I paid $60 extra for pre existing and I didn't even leave the country and they were just going to take the whole amount.

Unless you said' I caught image in a plate glass window and I was so stunned that I looked so skinny and hot since I got my sleeve surgery that I fell over a vagrant and broke my leg'.

That could be cause for negating a claim I schpose..but then the same could be said if you had a band so I dunno....

I suppose if it worried you then its easy to mention it on the form. You would with the band anyway, I just cant see what kind of medical issue the sleeve could cause you that would then bring you to make a claim. Unlike the band where it is a real concern that it could make you seek medical assistance while overseas.

Well that is good to know. I know how they will wriggle out of trying to pay a claim. The bit about any surgery or specialist is pre existing had me worried.

Just posted the question on the sleeve site Linda and a lady who is an insurance broker said this.

Quote :
given i am an insurance broker i can tell u that no its not a pre existing condition

if it was then u will have to declare that no appendix and no gall bladders are pre existing .. basically same thing - its an organ that has been removed or amended.

most pre existing conditions, are things like hyper tension, diabetes, back injuries etc

hope that helps :)

And another one from a travel agent

Quote :
Hi Trish, Just to back everyone up... i'm a travel agent and sell it every day - nope its not pre-existing! :)
