| aint that the truth! Up down up down...dieting give me the shits...which is what i told my doc this morning when i saw him. I said its either feast or famine with the band there is no middle ground...that middle ground is willpower, which is what i struggle with, hence why i felt i needed weightloss surgery in the first place. He is so tactiturn, he just looked at me and half smiled and said to come back in six weeks and we'll talk again. Arrrggghhh...that's what he said last week when i said i wanted my band out...come and see me next week and we'll talk...so we talked and the talk was come and see me in six weeks and we'll talk again.
I know this is a process and i should just be patient...yadda yadda yadda but i walked out of there and felt like i just wanted to cry. He was still saying 'you never know you might come back in six weeks and say the band is working fine now and you're happy to live with it.' I said 'if i didn't work fine for me for two years i don't think six weeks will make much difference?' But he said to just see how it goes. I told him that even if there was no other weightloss options, like the sleeve, i would still want the band out as I just don't like it...i feel it wont' help if i get to a maintance stage as i would have just used willpower to get to stage...and i don't think i could use willpower for the next 40 years. He said maybe he could take out all the fluid then and i could just live a normal life with an empty band.
I said i would just turn into a yo-yo dieter with a loose band and but still have the downside of big port sticking into me...not to mention what it could adhere to internally over the next 40 years...or have that worry of slips or erosion etc... He said that's understandable but to come back in six weeks anyway and see how i go. Sigh....
I know i shouldn't be down, he didn't say no afterall... its just my impatience i guess. Sorry guys for my whinge...just letting my frustrations out....
And i know its the totally wrong thing to do....but i'm going to have some hot chips. See why i need a sleeve, or a working band...or a new brain! LOL

| Glad you might have sorted it Delia, fingers crossed eh. Glad you're feeling a bit better though. Linda, my pain is less too...not sure why but it has eased quite a bit. Maybe my gut was swollen or something around the band and 2ml of fill out might have eased it? I see my doc tomorrow though so i'll mention it if i remember. Thanks for asking. How are you going? Are you Dukan-ing it with Delia? Hope you're all well girls! debs | |

| Well Delia it was a test to see if it was the acid so if its working you need to switch to nexium my love cos it will be the only thing that will heal your gut. | |

| I got some zantac today and it is helping so on wood and up wood I am hoping. Periot really does not seem to help that much but the gavison does and now the zantac.
Thanks Girls what would we do without this forum.

| I'm often up this early, Linda. Just too lazy to post! Actually - if I've worked overnight then this is about the time I head off to bed.
Point taken, though. I'm not a morning person.

| Zippy I just asked my husband to go back in to town tomorrow. He does not like me driving his 4x4 (shi.. I dove the last one half way around Australia) but he has got strange with it these days. He is not happy but I think he will take me into town tomorrow. I don't want to be on holiday and have all this pain. It started again today when I had some yoghurt with eggs for lunch on the road. Yoghurt seems to really set it off. It must be acidy.
Thanks for the information muchly appreciated.

| Ha ha HAPPY BIRTHDAY You snuck that one through the keeper. I have a very large family and for my 60th I got a vase from one sister and a little bowl from a lady who I used to babysit for many years ago. I really expected a present when my daughter came up for the weekend but zippo nada zilch.
Have a nice day anyway be kind to yourself.

| Happy Birthday to me. How exciting to be another year older. It just gets better and better each year after 50 - NOT! I long for the times when I looked forward to my birthday. These days it's just another day, and usually depressingly so. I should just be thankful, I suppose, that with all the abuse my body has had over the years, I am still here to talk about it.
Happy times. | |

| You can take zantac at the same time as the pariot... my doc advised this when it got bad for me and I had the stabbing pains (this usually means that the stomach lining is being breached) as it works differently to both pariot and nexium and covers all corners.
I would say you only need to take the meds till it settles. Perhaps you have just tickled it up somehow ( sometimes eating a bit more can do it) and your tummy is inflamed and sore inside now and needs to heal.
Unfortunately once its inflamed our stomach produces more acid which compounds it all so hence the double up of the ant acid meds.

| Zippy You could be right I am eating the pink gavision and I have periot from the Dr. (I have had these before so used them) It had eased and today I just got a few little jabs nothing like the other days. I am hoping it will all settle as I don't want this while I am away. I could need the Nexium will see how the next few days go. Thanks Del | |

| Delia try taking zantac and gaviscon (the pink one, it puts a protective lining on the stomach) both are available over the counter at the chemist or in woolies... its possible you are experiencing acid pain. I remember having jabbing pain at one stage and the doc said it was because the nerves were starting to get raw in one particular spot.
You may just need a 6 week course of Nexium to let it settle. If the zantac and gaviscon releives the symptoms I would put my money on acid.
You dont have to have acid or bile wash back up your throat to have probs with over active acid in the tummy.
Bandits are particularly prone to the dreaded acid.

| H Linda Yes I did but this is different it settles under the ribs but is like a 6" ring where it is. I think last time it was there but no where as big but now thinking back it maybe the same but worse. It is a lot bettter today and I sleep for 4 hours last night. I did not go to bed until 3 and up at 7 am so that is something. I can still feel little jabs of it but nothing like what it was and I am eating soft foods or chewing the bugger out of it. Thanks for the reminder. Delia | |

| That's very interesting you say that Delia because as i was reading your post about the burning pain i was thinking...'that sounds a bit like my pain.' It is a bit of a burning cramping kind of feeling...it has gotten a bit milder since i had some fill out but its still there...that's what makes me wonder if it is the band starting to play up? I see my doc at the end of this week so will mention it to him and see what he thinks. I did hear some stats that said (who knows if if this is true, but a american surgeon said it) he said that 40% of bands fail (or have some sort of problem) in two years, 50% in by four years, 60% by the 6 year mark and up to about 90% by 10 years (the ten years is a bit patchy though as there's not as many of those.) So who knows...maybe our band are stating to act up a bit. I'm trying to ok. Even though i can eat anything now i still utomatically go for protein first...band brain...but i think thats a good way to be even for the sleeve, or just for normal weightloss. I hope you're feeling ok Delia and the pain eases off a bit for you. You sounds really busy! You don't think it could be stress from being so busy that's causing the pain? Keep us posted as to how you're getting on. debs ps 20 grand!!!!! Holy crap balls! No wonder they go to Mexico! | |
