General Random Questions - Page 7 Empty
PostSubject: Re: General Random Questions   General Random Questions - Page 7 Empty28/11/11, 08:57 pm

I live in a country area and the option for another surgeon is 3 hours away. I also have to say that my band doc is one of the lovelies kindest of people and any problem has never been an inconvenient time for him to see me.... he has even taken a break during surgery and come out in scrubs to remove fill from my band when I needed it in a hurry... and he did it joking and smiling. So I am not keen to go see another surgeon at this stage and insult him.

I figure if my band slipped its not his fault, to be honest it would have been something I have done. I have been banded 31/2 years and in that time I have possibly become lax, not chewed enough or eaten too fast or too much. Im human so error is a given.

As for the decision, I think I will lean on my surgeon for this one. Perhaps if I have the band repositioned if he suggests its possible and if it goes west again then ask him about the sleeve... I dont know because that will simply mean more scar tissue to deal with in a conversion.

I will sit and talk to him on Wednesday, he is good to discuss things with and never rushes you out if you have concerns. He is also not afraid to voice his opinion so who am I to argue when he has the degrees.

The only issue I have is that he has not done a good deal many sleeves and perhaps this is why he is hesitant. It also gives me the thought that as lovely as a person he is then perhaps a 4 hour trip to sydney might well be advantages to me and my welfare if I do decide to go ahead with a sleeve.

I know the band can be removed and the sleeve is permenant ...but the band honestly is a forever thing for me. I am a food addict. I did not make it to 135 kilos eating lettuce in small quantities and I know that given my hunger back along with the resolute knowledge that I failed the band ( In my own self I would feel this) and the fact that I knew I was flying solo.... that I would have a very high chance of sliding back into obesity with rapid force.

I am if nothing a realist, I can sit here and fly the flag loud and proud and say I can do this alone...but better I know my weaknesses, get them out in the open in the daylight and decide how best I can combat them... stupidity is putting your head firmly up your grass and pretending everything is hunky dory.

I am a little Jaded, a little sad... a whole lot scared and just a tad tired of the whole deal...bare with me, its a dark time for me and this place is my little ever ready battery torch.....prepare for the whinging!

I would recommend you try visiting someone else to discuss your band.
Quite often someone else will point out something no one has brought up before, and may in fact get your band adjusted so you can eat well and get back to a normal life with it. Where do you live?

And hell yes I will shake your hand - it's a scary horrible place you are in right now. (I am swearing at your band under my breath for you!)

I remember when mine had slipped, I had been in such pain, plus the reflux, no sleep etc etc for such a long time (I know you know the tune I'm singing) that I had to get him to convince me to get a 2nd band put in. I was so damn scared of the pain returning and I was so over it that I just did not know if I could do it all again.
Thank goodness I did I lost heaps more weight, and to date this band has "worked".

I'm starting to research the sleeve (just incase) cos I've been reading too much of the doom and gloom on the USA lapband forums, not that I will ever have the cash to revise but I feel like I should know if I would consider it to be an option for me.

So what do ya reckon .. rip it out or reposition ?? Is replace an option ? (Do ya wanna chuck another $4500 at it.)

UGH,

Hi Zippy - Please let us know whats going to happen. Sending all my wishes

Tara and Delia - yes these band are so fickle, I have been really tight for the last fortnight, cannot eat anything solid, just living on mushies and protein drinks - not much fun. Well I dont know what the answer is.

I am off to Hospital on Friday (Prince Charles) for a Shoulder reconstruction, out of action for 4 - 6 weeks OMG not looking forward to this.

Take care everyone

Tara sounds like you are not that good either.

Tare Quote

"Now, I've never been a huge believer in "pleating" but today it makes sense."

Now that makes sense I had all my fill out and out back the same time with a big extra and I think that maybe that was when I started having a bit of trouble.

I wonder if there is anything to it. I do feel a lot better since I had .2ml out but not like it used to be.

I wonder????

not awsom, feel horrid and am so tired to the bone. I cant sleep an I cant eat anything solid and if the liquid is thick even though it goes up a straw it wont go down.

It feels like there is a bubble of air under what ever I intake. If I eat anything solid it feels like its stuck in my throat either way liquid or solid it comes back up repeatedly during the night so I cant get any sleep.

I am living off shakes and green tea at the moment. I am hoping that my doctors suggestion of sipping coke will help but we will see.

I suppose either way by the end of the week I will have a solution

PostSubject: Re: General Random Questions   General Random Questions - Page 7 Empty28/11/11, 03:20 am

Tara take my hand and shake it...last week my band decided to revolt and throttle me from the inside... I had all my fill remove and buggar me if it didnt tighten up again.

My doctor has told me to stay on fluids and get full sugar coke and sip it a teaspoon at a time for a couple of days... it seems to be working, if it doesnt then I have to go in on Wednesday for review to see if I will be admitted on friday for removal or repositioning of the band

My band and I are not speaking at the moment and at this point its off the christmas card list

General Random Questions - Page 7 Empty
PostSubject: Re: General Random Questions   General Random Questions - Page 7 Empty28/11/11, 03:10 am

Hi all,

UGH .. seriously what is going on with my band !!!

It has been "spontaneously" tightening for quite some time now.
I decided last week to have a tiny bit of fill out. (Stupid but it was a massive decision.)
He removed all my fill and then put it all back in minus .2ml. Anyway all week it has felt tighter than before he removed the fill. (Actually thinking back to last year it did seem to tighten in the humidity.)
I went back today for another tiny unfill and OMG it feels soooo tight. WTH !!!

Now, I've never been a huge believer in "pleating" but today it makes sense.

I'll do liquids for a couple of days incase the best band ever (might need to rethink that nickname) is feeling a bit precious but seriously I used to happily sit on about 8.25ml and now it feels super duper too tight at 6.8ml.

Good lord when my first band was in the process of trying to strangle me to death (read - beginning to slip) I was in and out of his office weekly. I felt like a stalker or a Munchhausen's type person. I do not wanna be the stalker bandit again.
Don't get me wrong I love my band but kinda wish it was a set and forget type option.

Okay thus endeth the rant. lol

Cheers,
Tara

boil eggs and cool. Peel off shell cut in half long oval ways and scoop out hard boil yolk. Mash yolk with mayo a little salt, pepper and curry. Spoon back into hole left by removed yolk.

Now that is the standard recipe but you can go buck wild with the yolk if you want ... mayo is the standard addition but you can sub any thing from a little salmon and finely chopped onion or shallots or a little light grated cheese.

Have a fiddle with it. They are quite tasty and half an egg nibbled on fills a hole nicely

another thing you can do with jelly and its an awesom snack to help you along

Disolve a diet jelly in a 1/4 cup of hot water ... in a shaker shake up 2 tablespoons of perfect protein whey powder with 150ml cold water and tip into a bowl...stir through the disolved jelly and put in fridge to set.

I like strawberry or raspberry jelly but do what ever floats your boat... high protein and almost nil carbs... wont kick you out of fat burning...just remember to chew that sucker till its liquid

99% fat free jarrah hot chocolate... its rich and filling and feels like a treat. ...

Make diet jelly up on 1/2 cup of hot water then stir into a cup of diet yogurt and set.

deviled eggs

Nestle Weight watchers approved choc mousse in dark and light and creme caramel

cottage cheese and rice crackers

General Random Questions - Page 7 Empty
PostSubject: Re: General Random Questions   General Random Questions - Page 7 Empty25/11/11, 04:05 am

Does anyone have any advice for night time eating? I'm an insomniac and at night i can't seem to fall asleep until i have something in my tum. I've tried all other distractions like reading, doing art, watching telly, relaxation...but none of that seems to work. I'm usually awake until 3am each morning so at midnight i have something to eat. I don't think i'm ever going to break that habit so what i'm thinking is it has to come down to what i choose to eat. Usually i'll have a can of soup or something. Does anyone have any advice or ideas for some quick and tasty night time food that won't wreck the dieting too much? (Nothing to wreck really, i've stalled for MONTHS.)

Any advice?

Yeah you could be. Also it might be hard to get any pain meds down. Most of the people I know of have had fill removed for surgeries.
