| Whoa! I just looked at your weight stats and obviously you're not going to require WSL! Be diligent in caring for your new hot bod Eryn and you will be ok . CONGRATULATIONS!! |

| Thanks Eryn, sorry to hear it. That doesn't bode well for me. I have had a stupidly tight band since since July, got fill taken out in December but it's still tight. Have found a new specialist nearer to me to take care of this. If you can honestly change the underpinning issues that had you overweight in the first place then you will be ok , but that's easier said than done isn't it. If your BMI still qualifies you , would you consider the sleeve procedure? I wonder if your health cover would cover it since you are starting again due to a failed band. I was looking at it online yesterday http://www.ossanz.com.au/index.asp and the sight mentioned that the sleeve is also suitable where the band fails and offers good long term weight loss potential. I should say I *think * it's the sleeve anyway - they called it Bilio Pancreatic Diversion BPD |

| Hi Tanya, I went back to get more fluid put in, but it ended up being too tight... Was throwing up and couldn't eat or drink fluids, went back n got ALL fluids taken out and still didn't get better... Was on holidays in Victoria and couldn't stand it anymore! So went to hospital... A space over about 5 weeks really... | |

| Hi everyone!! Unfortunately I had to have my Lapland removed the other day... Apparently my stomach had stretched through my band and was dying... I am on holidays in Victoria at the moment and had to have major emergency surgery in Frankston! Very scary! Now I wait until I go home n see my surgeon and tell him what happened, I'm very worried that now I don't have the Lapland I will fall backwards but I just have to stay strong I guess and not b stupid! I did get to my goal weight but we will see how long it lasts now! :-( Eryn Xx | |

| I agree with Linda. Generally if you have a bout of gastro and throwing up, the stomach will heave up and down , and quite possibly the pouch can enlarge as a bit of the larger stomach has been sucked up and made the pouch above even larger. You need to find that "Green Zone" as they call it, where your band is tightened just enough o manage quite nicely. Only an experienced surgeon or GP will help you find it, but to do so, you need to be disciplined with your eating. More often than not, it's because the patient has relaxed their habits and might have eaten too quickly or tried to eat something too large. - Tralee (Trace) wrote:

| Glad you're back safe and well, if a little sore. I never really got the shoulder tip pain so not sure what to suggest other than the heat pads and panadol etc... it sounds like you're really positive which is excellent. Hope you're not feeling too poorly and are getting your liquids in ok.
Well done.

Go girl and let us know how you go with this one.

| Hi all,
Delia, I had been thinking about posting about that medication after a bout of food poisoning last Sunday night. I also like to keep a filled prescription of this at home "just incase". It stops that gut wretching, band slipping vomitting and is SOOOO much easier than waiting for an after hours doctor or going to the Emergency room. (Why not treat yourself at home and be well again all before you would even be seen at the local hospital.)
The drug is called Metoclopramide and is also known by the brand names of Pramin or Maxalon.
I'd highly recommend having a filled script at home girls even if it is just for the peace of mind.
Cheers Tara | |

| Trace There are many different reasons that a band can slip. Vomiting is one. Sometimes it just happens for no reason. It could be purging a lot of times and it gives away to a slip. In my case it slipped twice as I have the French Mid Band and as this band is not stitched in. It just slipped. Reason being I don’t make adhesions. The adhesions are needed to hold this band in place. I now have my band stitched in and it is going along well. They can slip down the stomach or up through the band. Vomiting with a virus can cause the slip up the stomach (other reasons as well) so remember it is very important to get the doctor as soon as you think you may have this kind of virus for an injection. I always carry maxolon incase I get the bug. You can ask your doctor for a script for this medication. I believe there is another medication called wafer that can stop the vomiting but I don’t know much about it. Maybe someone else can fill us in on this? Delia

| Usually it is running the band too tight. Sometimes it can be caused by vomiting too much. I had a friend who could never get to her sweet spot and always said she could eat too much. She had a bout of gastro and vomited a lot. She instantly had a sweet spot. Her doc said the band must have shifted with the vomiting. It turned out to be good in that instance. | |
