No wonder you have been down in the dumps .. it has been a long slog for you.
Hang in there you are so close now - actually now the exciting part starts - FILLS !!

My first band was a couple of years ago and I have a memory of a goldfish so I can't remember much, but with my 2nd band I actually put on about 6 kilos till we got the first 2 or 3 fills in (mind you I had NO self control at that point, band number 1 had been a major problem and I had given up.)

So I think you will find if you just eat normally and somewhat sensibly which I think you have already been doing, stay away from the evil chocolate, ice cream, flavoured milks etc and once your fills kick in you'll be gold.

He usually puts in 6mls on the first fill if you can tollerate it. And he usually sees people every 4 weeks for top up fills, but I always went after 2 or 3 weeks. (Patience is not my virtue!)
So unlike with some of the other doctors you will be able to hit your sweet spot sooner.

I hope all that made sense and answered some of your questions - I am so tired my brain has turned to mush.

I will have a look tomorrow to see if I can find my food diaries from back then to let you know roughly how much I was eating. But I think you are way more on track with that than I was.

I have been down in the dumps since being in hospital, thanks for the great words of support, I really appreciate it, made my day, and now look forward to seeing Dr J in 2 week, as I have had the terrible muchies, and could eat a horse.

Must say I feel like a new person now just a little bit of tenderness in the Port incision.

Did u have 6 mls for your first fill. New to this bit, so did u have good restriction just curious how it works. Can u let me know what your daily intake of food consist off. Dietician is on Holiday!!!!, so this will be a bit of trial and error for me.

I admire you for that.

Look forward to hearing about your first fill ... Dr G usually puts in 6ml on a first fill so you should feel some restriction (for a short while) to start off your fills journey.

Hi Everyone

Just to let you all know that my PAIN in my Port area is no more. Had a great run this time. Full of antibotics.

First fill about the 1st of February - cannot wait to get some restriction - just want to eat everything.

I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway we were flooded in for a couple of days.

Yes I had to have my port replaced. Originally when I got banded in October 2010, 10 days after banding my port wound started to leak then it burst open and had to call an Ambulance. The Paramedics came and changed my dressing, and said if it was no better by the morning I would have to see my Surgeon.

Went to my GP in the morning and she referred me back to Surgeon and I was hospitalised 2 hours later.

Five days on IV antibiotics, and no better on the fifth day. Back to Surgery and found I had a huge infection under my Port. So out it came. (not happy jan). Another 3 weeks for everything to heal and then 2 months wait for another Port.

So I have been thru the wringer. Dont know what to think anymore, hopefully it will be better this time.

I feel pretty good just sore were he put the Port in. I have all these scars now as he put the port in a different place.

Did I do the right thing yes I believe just had a couple of hurdles to jump over. Now have to wait 3 weeks for my first fill.

Hi Everyone - Home from Hospital.

Suregeon, anethitist,and hospital staff were magnificent. No fill for 3 weeks. Keep my fingers crossed for no infection this time

Oh no Kacey I cant think how that must have felt. I worried so much that my surgery would be cancelled for some reason. Hang in there. Thinking of you.

I had the choice of buying out the chocolate aisle at woolies

buying a packet of smokes

Nicotine won.. diet is still on track..

I'm so sorry to hear that. Hopefully they'll be back on track asap.
But the not knowing must be the worst.

Oh you poor thing! How disappointing. Can't imagine how you must be feeling. I assume the doc/hospital have other pressing commitments. Hopefully it won't be too long before you can have it done.

Try to stay positive. You've made a great start and now you just need to stay focused. In the meantime, stay safe and dry.

Yeah well.. I don't know how to say this with out negetivity.. They cancelled the surgery because of the flooding, don't know when it is getting done now.. Meh

The staff at QE2 are wonderful, sooooo friendly that it actually feels like a small country town hospital.

Dr G rocks - can't speak highly enough of his surgery skills.
And his gas man is good too.

The waiting the day before is the worst .. but this time tomorrow you'll be on your way to the hospital. I'm really excited for you.

Why by Your man Tara! ;).. Not really excited as such more nervous to be away from my baby and incapacitated, I hate feeling weak so I pray I am a quick healer. Since it is past midnight I can be slightly negetive. I can't sleep and I have nested something chronic. But today is my last band free day I am booked in at QEII for 11 am with an afternoon op on Wednesday.
Wow.. I am going to go read something distracting now. I love the support in this place can't wait to join the club.
