Good on ya zipps, you have done your homework and it is now time to run with it.

Jackie looks gorgeous but I am sure I read somewhere that she is not happy.

Remember Sharon Osbourne had her band removed. Did she do further wls?

My sister in law has had fill removed from her band. She wants to eat, she likes to eat and she misses it. My brother has had great success with his band but she always cheated. Apparantly you can see her gaining daily. She did lose but never to a good weight.

Well March has arrived and in exactly 25 days I will be booking into hospital for my sleeve.

I have met some really lovely exbandit/presleeve people in this process but will always think of my Junies.

My date is the 27th of March and I am now at peace with it. Up till now I have been at a loss to explain how I felt about it but now I am hopeful.

I have been reading a lot about the sleeve, something I did with the band but I dont think there was a lot of honesty about band malfunctions... silence in the WLS community is terrible and would save a lot of pain and money if those with problems would speak out.

So far I have found sleevers...particularly exbandit sleevers to be very blunt, honest and sometimes too graffic about what to expect both good and bad. As we know not all things in life are trouble free. However all the issues that have been discussed with me about the sleeve, I suffered worse with the band.

Regain? yes if you abuse the sleeve but returning to basics brings it back into line and weightloss continues (sadly I did not find this with my band it was a massive struggle once weightloss stopped and regain started).

Reflux? yes its a possibility..some get it some dont... but medication corrects it in every single sleever I spoke too.. Again when I had reflux with the band it was mechanical and not biological so it was not ever cured by a tablet but by band removal.

Leaks? they happen... but are fixable... and happen in the first few weeks. A small sleeve (32) with tight wrap has the greatest risk especially in an exbandit ( it also enhances the chance of reflux) I am getting a 34 (loose wrap) so closer to a 36. Still known for good weightloss...40 and above has lower results.

And thats it for troubles.... stretching... well it can be remedied by going back to liquids ...in severe cases (rare caused by massive over eating resleeving is available.

When I added it up the probems ( in my opinion only) were less when I looked at the percentage of probs for long term band.

Having said all this there are those lucky ones like you ladies who have good functioning bands and I am so happy for you. Its what I had hoped for 4 years ago... thats the luck of the draw I spose.

LINDA sounds like the rain has moved down to your way.

We had pretty heavy rain last night. Had to stay home and mop up as it came in. If we weren't here the laundry would have flooded for sure.

this was an excellent read... especially this far down the track, it put me back in contact with the rules I had forgotton and once was pedantic about.

Linda you sound surprisingly like that little voice in my head....sadly it also hisses...eat it...eat it ...eat it.

Dent on the wallet? hmmm well I bought 2 tshirt nighties in an "oh My God!" size to wear in hospital ( I likes em nice and loose when you have drains and such) and I picked them up for the pricey sum of 5 buckeroonies each.

My other daughter had given me a $50 gift voucher at Meyer so I put a $100 to it and got a pair of spiffy sunnies ( I couldnt think of anything else I wanted) hmmmmm no thats a lie... I wear chanel perfum and never buy it because I wait for birthdays and get a few victims to throw in for it. And I need a new bottle but at $265 a bottle I was too cheap to make up the balance of the $50 voucher so sunnies it was.

I got a rather dead sexy pair of purple multy colored polka dotted gum boots for $19

I bought my daughter some head bands, because she was picking them up and turning them over like they were diamonds ( or in my case iced donuts) and when I said she should get them she winced and said she didnt have enough money... so mums plastic to the rescue and we left the shop $35 dollars lighter and a bag full of sparkly head bands and clips.

Hmmmm what else...what else...oh yes I got a new screen protector for my mobile (They put it on I get bumpy air bubbles when I do it)...$15

I got a tube of shampoo that I cant get at home that gets the 'ranga' out of my bleached foiled sections on my nut ...$15 some super glittery nail polish that will make my tooties look tantalisingly sexy $10

eeeerm morning tea at max brenners for my daughter and I...$35... went to the pictures, my daughter shouted but I bought the popcorn... $12

and a newspaper clad large serve of hot chips for everyones dinner when we got home $10

So I could have done more damage and was tempted too but seriously I couldnt be arsed. I am desperately depressed about clothes at the moment aaaaaaand there is nothing on the racks that is remotely inviting.... Undies for hospital...should have got those but apart from that I was shopped out

Ha that is such an apt description. It brought to mind Hamish in the food challenge. It is the only thing he ever moved fast for. Biggest loser Hamish.

I think you should just go with the flow and get your mind ready for the period that the doctor told you to do opti. You know you will buckle under and do it.

All I can say is "I'm impressed"! Makes me feel not quite so guilty about the 2/3 tray of tiramisu that was shared between two, shall we say, less than svelte colleagues. I know my partner-in-crime would have no issue with me describing her this way.

I just think that the desire for such things well never pass me by. Yes, of course I have had many times (when I'm totally focused) that I have been able to pass such things by, and without any feeling of missing out. I know it's always going to be there, and even at times I have been able to have just a taste and be satisfied. But . . . . . . . I have to be in a certain mindset to be able to do either of those things. It's not a mindset that I am in right now.

One can push these things to the back, but for me they will always exist somewhere, occasionally at the back, more often at the front.

So did you make a dent in the wallet with your shopping?

How is all doing. I was doing well on my self impossed opti for 3 days then I fell of the wagon and cracked a rib...

My daughter and I made the big trip down to Newcastle to have a shopping day... I started well with my opti for breakfast, then when we got to the shopping centre, my daughter wanted a hot chocolate at Max Brenners...

"Ok" I thought, "I can do this, just march on up to that counter and order a long black with soy milk on the side"

Proudly I did just that, then the sickly sweet, demonic voice of my wickedly thin daughter said over my shoulder... " Ooooooooh Mum we should sooooo have waffles and strawberrys and bananas with melted chocolate and ice cream."......... BITCH!!!!!

Anywhoooo I started out by carefully picking the strawberrys off the top of the stack of the share plate and nibbling them. However I am like a white pointer that can detect a drop of blood in an ocean of sea water.

One tiny scrap of chocolate on that strawberry and my eyes rolled back, my teeth were bared and I went in for the kill. My daughter dutifully pushed the plate towards me with a waning smile, while I grabbed it and started to shovel.

You would be proud of me, my fork to jaw skills are impressive. Anyway, I managed to finish it off all clean and wash it down with coffee, then asked... " So what do you think we should have for lunch"

Taaah daaaah and there you have it, my mentoring talents have not withered, I am still an advocate for the wickedly nawdy...

morning all... day 4 of my early impossed pre op... arrrrg. Been good, no cheating. Thats one thing in my favour with these things when I make up my mind and have a goal to work to I am annoyingly disciplined.

My son (20) bought an old house and of course has no idea how to renovate..so the old girl comes in handy ( dont we always) and I have been sanding scraping and ripping out walls and old fire places and old aircons this weekend... conveniently my husband is on a 3 week rotate away from home, so its me that gets the job of being the go to person on the job.

I also get all the bastard jobs because Im the only one in the place at the moment who knows how to do stuff like clean an ornate ceiling for paint prep or jack hammer up old bathroom tiles.

I have muscles that have been asleep for 20 years that have woken up and they are real crabby.

Still I am passing on the torch I suppose and its good to see him doing something productive with his life ...biiiiiig, messy, dirty, hard job though.

I am spending my free time in second hand places and going to trade rooms looking for cheap stuff. I am on a mission for a really good nick second hand kitchen. You can pick them up for about 2 to 5 hundred bucks if you are willing to pull them out and take them away.

That will be the husbands job Im afraid.... after 20 years in the building trade he can be the kitchen removalist

Dear God your a good and self sacrificing woman Loosinit... I am thankful you threw your self on the sword like that.. what strength of being it must have taken to undergo such suffering.

I too was a a brave lil toaster over the past few months. I would endure packets of chips at 10 and sometimes 11 oclock at night. As you know its painful and difficult and not with out tears and gagging but if you dig deep you find the resolve and finish the offending substance.

Good on you my friend... its good to see the wobbly wheeled trolly that is the 2008 Junies is still being pushed along

Yes, true enough. In fact last night actually refers to the early hours of this morning. Of course I don't do these things willingly - hands tied behind back and force-fed. What can I say? I was prepared to take a hit for the group. Such sacrifice!

Me bad - there was home-made tiramisu at work last night. Notice I said 'was'. I may (or may not) have played a part in it's disappearance.

sounds like you are going well. I can notice an increase in my hunger with not as much protein. It is hard to eat out and today and yesterday I just took pink salmon with some lime zest and mayo mixed through and 5 crackers. It is easy to eat but doesn't stay with me long.
