Thanks Beth....I think if I was losing weight I would cope better, sometimes I think it could be my busy life style, and the blockages happen mostly at home where I am always in a hurry ( have had a few out)....I did manage to eat a slice of bread this mroning without issues, and tomorrow well who knows, each day is so different, which makes it so hard....2 hrs later ( late breaky) had a 1/2 sausage, 1/3 rissole, 1/3 tomatoe, and a very small egg...all went well, but I was very full.....I think if I exercised, I would also loss weight....thanks for your help, I get really over it when the vomiting starts....

Cate,

Maybe you need to look at the way you are eating. Are you perhaps eating too fast? Try waiting a while between each tiny spoonful. Put your spoon (or fork or whatever) down between each bite, chew chew chew, swallow, and then wait. You do not drink during meals, do you? Some people can, but I find if I do that, I am guaranteed to have that blocked feeling, and it has to come back up.

I cannot eat chicken breast either, but thigh meat is OK. Red meat like steak & chops is a no-no, but mince is OK, and I can eat very tender slow cooked red meat. Fish goes down very well, and lets face it is much better for you anyway!!! Bread I most cannot eat, but crackers and cheese are OK.,

It does sound like your band is too tight, but as you have had the issue since day 1, perhaps it is the position of the band. You definitely need to speak with your surgeon. Continued vomiting is the number 1 cause for a band slippage...

Take care...

Thanks guys....I think I am very frustrated with the 'no loss' thing, and eating so little....yesterday I had a good no vomit day, spag bolles for dinner (babe bowl full), it was nice and no vomiting or pain....I see where others eat bread, and red meat.....fish is the only meat type product and mince/sausages I can eat....I think what happens is that when I do get a 'stuck' happening, my body just does everything it its power to rid it, thus severe vomiting, and I do not stop untill it is clear....aweful experience.....
It is Sunday, and we are down at the beach staying for the weekend....will do a BBQ for the kids. so for breaky will have mince pattie ( possibly only 1/2), and egg, and possibly a wee bit of tomatoe.....

Cate xoxoxo

PS...Have to see Dr on the 9th, but vomiting has happened from day 1.....I do not think band is too tight, but certainly do not want a fill....have restriction........

Hi catton 54 Iam another that sujests a trip to the doc, though the amount of fluid in band may not seam much your esophagus may be irritated (swollen)from the vommits making your restriction more then you think. I got a little cought up in how much others where having in band and how little they eat that I went a little tight for me I found ended eating the yoghurts ice cream cheese poridge and most days milk but real food was a mouthful or uncomfortable..I had bad heartburn thus the soft milky foods to help coat insides. but alas the low fats where high in cals and wait stayed on but hair brittled and fellout quicker then I liked.. I had all my fluid out so I could go on a exstended hols and yes I put on wait but it reminded me of the pleasure of food and life without heart burn. so now iam slowly putting fluid back in but trying to find a happy place where heart burn is not and issue where healthy foods can be enjoyed but hunger controlable almost there I think. good luck working through this sometimes its a step forward and two back Talk with the doc they have proberbly seen and heard it all before and sould help work out a happy stadefor you.

Cate i think its time you went to see the surgeon and told him exactly whats happening. It isn't normal to be vomiting so much. I remember the last time i saw my dietician and she asked if i was vomiting, i said i vomited once (because i ate too fast, didn't tell her that though :) and she said the band shouldn't make you vomit and if i started vomiting i had to see my surgeon right away as it is not normal.
Can you write down what you're eating, when you vomit, what you can and can't eat etc...like a little journal and take it in to show him? I wonder if you should ask for an x-ray as maybe the band has slipped slightly? Or maybe its just that you need some out? It sounds awful though.

I'm a bit over it all too but for the opposite reason. I can still eat too much despite having 6ml in. I can eat a whole hamburger and a can of coke, i can have a full dinner plate of food...chicken breast or a piece of steak the size of my hand, a pile of vegies, potato's...you name it, i barely have any restriction and my weightloss has stopped too. (Its been stopped for ages though.) Its not going up or down. I wish i had a band like Nickys...she's doing so well and eating so little and not feeling hungry at all etc... I'm too worried to go back to doc as i only have 1ml to go in my band before its full and i worry that it might not be enough.... its so hard and you feel so defeated...so even though i'm at the other end of the spectrum i know how frustrated you feel.

I think you should definitely go to the doc though and make him take you seriously.

Hi Catton, Sorry that your feeling over it. Have you told the doctor that your regulary throwing up, as I thought this was a sign that you may need some fluid removed? You want it to be a tight fit, but you need to be eating more and better than purees, soups and yogurts. I just had another fill the other day and I can notice it is tighter. You mentioned foods, today for example I had breakfast - 3/4 piece of wholemeal toast, snack - 1/4 piece banana and 2 cherry tomatoes, lunch - 4 chicken nuggets and small portion of chips (I was bad), dinner - piece of pork steak, mash potato, zuchini & carrot. I've noticed bread getting stuck/being uncomfortable, but so far thats it. I hope your feeling better.

Hi Guys....not much activity.......well I seem to be well and truly stuck, not losing, not gaining.....not eating alot at all, and still vomiting lots.....to be honest, nearly over it.....bread is now totally out, and last night did try a small 1inch square of fillet steak, that i cut up to small sizes and chewed for ages, with salad and a small potatoes..all fitted 1/2 into a babies bowl....well did i vomit and the pain was severe.....yes I know meat is out, but the options are very limited, mince tonight ( hope it stays down), have all my servings in a babies bowl so I am not over eating, just saw on another thread where one bandit had 2 toast and 2 eggs for breaky, 1 egg would be it for me.....I think I have 1.75mls in a 7ml band..
I think I lean towards food that I know will not give me pain and vomiting....soups, yoghurts, strained baby fruits, custards ( possibly high in cals??)...mince meat seems ok and sausages. and moist chicken and vegies seem ok.....is anyone else like this????it is hard when you work full time, home late and just cannot be bothered cooking.....

One thing that I have noticed is that I tend to be building up fluid in my legs that I have not done before......

Cate ( feeling over it)

Had a glorious day today. First day of sunshine in soooooooooooooooo long so decided to take a cruise down the Gold Coast in my convertible. I headed to Harbour Town which is a discount shopping complex of all the brand names. I went there to buy clothes and shoes but somehow left there with kitchen wares... August 2010 - Page 19 644678

Not to worry....I even stopped in at McDonalds and only bought a Coke Zero for the trip home.

Hope everyone else is having a fantastic weekend.

Hey Ella, well done on the size 16 jeans! Must feel fantastic. I'm still in my size 18's....grrrr....haven't been to my doc yet, have had some other health issues in the mean time but i'm thinking of ringing him in the next few days to see if i can get in for an appointment. My partner doesn't want me too as he thinks i'm eating fine as i am and to just take it slow. I'm getting sick of slow though! lol
Will keep you posted as to what happens.....

Hey guys,

just checking in as it's been awhile. Good to see everyone is recovering from all the extra food and drinks at Xmas. I am slooooooowwwlllyyyyy returning to my diet and have managed to lose a couple of kilos since Christmas but would like to lose more before we go to New Zealand in a few weeks time.

Am proud to say I now fit into size 16 jeans....woooooooohooooooooooo. My hubby even told me they looked to big but I think they're just wonderful.

How did you go with the doctor's Deb? I go back to see my doc on Feb 03 but am going to try and talk him out of a fill as i still want to be able to eat on my holidays but think he might have other ideas.

Anyway guys, best go do something instead of sitting in front of the computer all morning.

Take care

Thanks for that Kirsten, i'll keep it in mind and see if my doc mentions the same thing. It would be good if he said it held up to 10ml or something... will let you know how it goes when i ring him. Probably not until monday now...

Hi Debs,

I'm sure you have been told to try and not stress, but I can imagine your concern. Let us know how you go at the doctors next. You never know, a tiny adjustment might make the world of difference. Also just for FYI benifit, my doctor said once in conversation that the particular band I have technically holds 14ml, but will actually take around 17ml. That might have other problems, I don't know, but I thought I would mention it.

Girls I hope you are all safe and not to many problems with the floods.
We are ok up high but so many roads have been cut. It is hard to do things.
I know about the food plan out the window. I have done the same just can not concentrate.
You and your family stay safe.

Hope you're not left isolated for too long cate and you get some food in soon.

Kirsten, i don't know what my doc will say about the band being so close to full. I wish he used a bigger one on me. I'm going to ring him today and book in for another appointment. I need to get my restriction right or i'm never going to loose this weight. I can't keep relying on willpower alone as it just doesn't work for me. I feel quite stressed about it all.
Oh well, i'm sure it will all work out in the end.

hi girls, I hope you are all safe and well. So sorry to those who have lost items in the floods. Hopefully thats all you'll lose.

Started up being good... sorta ;p hit the gym for a pump class that just about killed me, so now i have to wait til i can walk again August 2010 - Page 19 11341 before i can do some more.

had my first uhoh moment last night when i was scoffing down curried chicken and fried rice and it got stuck and wouldnt budge and i was trying not to throw up. Was a super close call and made me thankful that i dont usually have it.

Cate, i dont know how you manage

Love to everyone

Well, with floods on us now, my pantry only has got the bare minimal in it..I think we will be isolated for a period, possibly till sunday, I tried to get some extra bread extra, but it was all sold out....it is terrible what has happen in Qld, I have kids in Toowoomba and they ( well my daughter in law) watched in horror as it all unfolded, my son was at Withcott and left just before the flood came through, he had no idea what was happening behind him......
I have just tried to post a pics of the 'view' from our verandah, but it has not worked....hope all our forum friends are keeping dry feet...take care

Ella, I don't really know what to say. It's terible whats happening. I just hope both you and your hunband stay safe and it begins to ease soon.

Debs, I'm over my sooky la la moment, hahaha. I'm not going to weigh in for a few week, and I think that will actually help my state of mind. 1ml of having a full band, thats so close. Are you due for another adjustment? What has the doctor said about being 1ml off having a full band? I've got a 14ml band with 9.5ml in it. My doctor said the majority of his clients have around 7ml and he only has a couple over 10ml. I'm going to be one of those, lol. I just hope that I too reach that perfect spot.
