Thanks Losingit. If you don't want to go to the docs what about taking some regular asprin for a while, it thins the blood and maybe help it move through. If it is a clot I know how much they hurt as I had one in hospital in my upper arm and could barely lift it. They inserted a picc line (an IV that goes into your arm and gets pushed up to circle your your heart) and it was so painful I told them at the time but they kept going anyway. LOng story short, after three days of agony and not moving my arm they ultrasounded me and voila...a clot. I tell ya.

If it keeps up though and doesn't ease please go see someone...if it moves and go's to your lungs or heart or something..... anyway I shall not nag. lol

Docs suck though. My skinny bf went to one yesterday to get a script and the doc tells him he needs to lose 17ks as he's classed as obese! He's over six foot tall and thin...he's only got a bit of a pot gut. Where is he supposed to lose 17ks from? They work from that ridiculous BMI chart which doesn't take into account body shape, composition, build, bone structure etc.....aarrggghhh...don't get me started.

Oh, I had that disgusting gastrograffin test yesterday and the doc said he couldn't read the results properly as things were so moved around. I would have to wait and see DR P as he knows where he put everything. WTF?
I go and see him at the end of this week. Fingers crossed the results are good.

Oh deary dear dear dear Loosingit... I have heard those things hurt like a freaking bitch.

Have you tried binding it firmly... I do understand the doctor thing your saying.. I hate the bastards. Half the time they have no bloody clue anyway and you have to tell them whats wrong with you and ask for the medication.

I recon we could all get a PHD after the combined arseholes we have all seen

Good to have you back, Debs.  Sorry that you've had such a rough trot, but hopefully things will slowly (or quickly!) improve and you can begin to enjoy food and your weight loss.

Nothing happening here - apart from needing a renovation to make my rooms bigger, in line with the size of my body!  Maybe I should move to one of those warehouse renovation places, with limited walls and just a big open space.  That should be nearly enough room for me to move around, not that I'm doing much moving recently.

Speaking of which, I have a suspicion that I may have a DVT.  Varicose veins (thanks to the ancestors and my weight), along with limited movement in recent times, may well have contributed to this.  Quite a lot of pain and tenderness in my left leg, above and below the knee, but to the side - and a bit of redness. Of course, a normal person would trot off to the docs and attempt a professional diagnosis.  Me?  Well . . . . . . . it's winter, I hibernate, and going to the docs would mean I might have to take some sort of action.  PLUS . . . .  no doubt I would be reminded that I am obese and this doesn't help things.  Really?  Could have fooled me.

Aaaarrrgghh - I really am my own worst enemy.

See why I haven't been on here?  Nothing but bloody whinge, whinge, whinge.  Can you get a PhD for that - whingeing?  I'm sure I would qualify.

Thanks Linda, thanks Trisha. I hope it does go away, its driving me crazy waking me up in the night and its making it hard to get my fluids in as there's always this pain, like a stuck chicken bone or something. I will keep on the meds and I also got some double strength Mylanta today to try. You know I was on a ton of antibiotics through the iv...for weeks and weeks and weeks due to the sepsis that nearly bloody killed me. I had forgotten about the pro-biotic thing. I'll get some from the shop.

I really hope it goes away with time, that'll be something to look forward to! Poor Glenmarie, did she not have a decent doc or something? I guess you never know what you're going to get...I supposedly had a decent doc and look what happened. You never know if some things are an accident or if its just carelessness.

Thanks for advice. I'll get those probiotics, take my meds and keep my fingers crossed. Oh, and I got on the scales and i'm in the 80's! 89kg to be precise but I didn't get this low with the band. Strangely I don't feel hugely excited by it. I think its because its been tainted by being so sick. Hopefully as I get better the excitement will come and I will start to enjoy this thing.

Deb for some reflux in the begining is horrendous but once the sleeve heals it goes away... others unfortunately continue to suffer from it and stay on their meds.

I know one other lady had a butchered sleeve  and she ended up going to bypass to fix the reflux. This was Glennmarie her innards were massively butchered by her doctor

I would imagine though...and this is just my thinking that your innards are a fair bit beat up at the moment with a lot of nerve damage etc and as it all heals and propper digestion returns to your tummy that it will settle, though it could take approx 6 months from what I read.

Keep taking your meds... He told me that I can take Zantac plus gavascon in conjunction with the 40 mg Nexium but I never needed it to do that and now if I do get a bit of normal heartburn from eating crap or grog, I find the pink tablet duel action gaviscon better than the plain one or the liquid.

Try hanging in there deb. You have had a rotton road to travel but you sound like you are healing very well

I followed the american guidlines for protein which was 60 to 80 grams a day... so approx 2 PB shakes. Keep in mind that protein powder bogs your bum up so get some osmolax to keep it soft and moving.... just add a teaspoon full once a day to your shake or morning cuppa.

As for reflux... I imagine you were on some hefty antibiotics via drip or tablet... which means your reflux could be due to that so go get some good pro and pre biotics and take them to reline your gut with the good bugs.

That sounds promising Debs. Good luck for tomorrow. I think from memory that reflux is a side effect but it goes away. I am sure Trish will be on soon to enlighten us.

Trish is reflux/heartburn a normal thing with the sleeve? I'm waking up at 5am most mornings with the worst bloody pain from it. I've only been home about a week and I've already gone through a giant bottle of Gaviscon. I'm on Nexium but still getting the bastard heartburn. I don't know if things are sleeve or if they're from my butchered insides where Dr Dick screwed up?

Also, remember the bp chock isoflex protein powder? If I have one of those a day am I getting my protein needs or should I be having more? Sorry I know we've discussed all this stuff but three months in the hospital on S8 drugs has pretty much wiped my memory.

PS Guess what girls. I think my leak is getting smaller! I don't seem to be having as much stomach contents/juices in my drain...its a little less than last week. That must mean the hole is getting smaller hey. Awesome.
Oh, and I have to have one of the gastrograffin swallow tests tomorrow..where you swallow that vile aniseed stuff and they x-ray you..this is to actually check the hole. Fingers crossed it will be good news.

Liquid stage sux band and sleeve cos liquids just go straight through... it does get way better.

For instance I made savoury mince tonight and measured out my half cup and half way through had to stop.

It just sits heavy in your gut...however I can drink a whole mug of tea etc easily and back up for another one....hence the dont drink your calories thing.

Nothing is ever gonna be easy Im afraid but this is the much better option (once your healed and healthy that is) than the band.

hang in there my chickens...love you both loads and loads!

I'm totally up for some ball cutting! He'd only ever talk to me for a minute at a time and even then he always had smirk or half smile on his face. I feel like he has no clue what an impact this has had. Hey-ho, as long as i'm getting better that's all that matters hey.

It sounds like you're doing fine Tara. I remember reading at the start of all this about the weightloss stalls at the start, and some people all the way through. I can't compare because they were always feeding me some other way...first feeding me TPN (like a babies formula) through my veins (made me soooo sick) and then feeding me through a tube that went in my nose and down my throat...and finally, through a peg, a tube that they put into my bowel that pokes out of my tummy. (I still have this tube and can't wait until its gone.) So I just kept gaining weight after my surgery. Yours is definitely going in the right direction though so you must be doing the right thing most of the time  :)

Thanks for that info about the stomach nerves healing etc... Trish. I forgot about that. I've been having trouble recognising signs too. ITs hard to know on liquids though isn't it. I guess you don't start to get a proper idea of how much you can have until you're on solids. Bring on the day! lol

Oh and dont beleive all the cracking bullshit all these people pi$$ out... its like penis sizes when you start listening to the amounts they can eat and how TINY their sleeves are.

I was so depressed in the begining listening to the stories some would tell then I started really looking into their menus.. trust me they were hoovering plenty much.

Sometimes its just their perception after being able to consume so much after a non sleeved virgin belly... where we have had a band for the past few years and have a different idea of what TINY intake is.

Aaaaaaalso dont beat your self up about weightloss... for some reason after all WLS you plateau after a month or two of the op... its your body catching up with the whole ordeal. It will pick up again.

I remember wanting to hack my wristes with rusty spoons after both the band and the sleeve at the 1 or 2 month mark when I suffered a constipated weightloss stage.
Eventually it ended but I was never a huge or fast loser of pudge.

Tara the nerves in your new tummy are still numb so your not getting your signals properly yet... try measuring all your food to the half cup measure so you dont stretch till your nerves re establish.

It does work and G does a good sleeve... in fact he tends to go on the tight side and I know many of his patients feel quite sick and have trouble eating post sleeve so your doing really well.

I found measuring was the key at the begining because with the tummy being a bit numb so to speak its really head and eye hunger your experiencing...plus the fact that at this stage your consuming wetter slider foods.

3 months seems to see you right so hang in there..measure your foods ( I know this seems like a pain in the ass but i sorted it by getting bowls that only held that much so I didnt have to measure). Eat with a teaspoon too it also helps.

I can to this day only fit in half a cup and feel full by using this method... you have to give your tummy time to heal completely to get the feelings to kick in and that is somewhere around 6 and 8 months for a full heal.

 So take it easy bubblet

Ba ha ha not sure what a radical sleeve job on the surgeon's balls involves BUT COUNT ME IN !!!!!!!!!! It sounds like an adventure.

Ergh yeah I'm still a fat bastard and kinda got the whole I hate myself thing going on - yep cos that has proved so effective in the past !
Haven't lost anything for a good few weeks.
Grrr might be time to change up the diet a bit. I just keep putting that off as I really just can't be bothered.

Actually I am rather worried at the large sized portions I can fit in but I dunno if that is just my noisy head comparing me to others or if Dr G gave me the world's biggest sleeve.
I suspect the latter !!!!

Currently sitting at 99kgs so only lost 8kgs in 9 weeks-ish. Oh that's not that bad .. ok maybe this stall will unstall soon then.

Debs it soooooooooo awesome to have you home !!! Yep gunna keep on saying it.

big kisses deb.... your attitude will change once your all healed bub ... if you have ever read any of lil miss cc posts then you will know she is full of life, bubbly and feels perfectly normal belly wise... she is also gorgeouse. Well she also had a leak in the begining not sure if it was as bad as yours though. I kinda suspect that the doc went into panic mode and didnt quite know what to do to fix you and thats why you have been dragged by the hair by fix it jobs... seems you got better results after going to sydney and seeing giordano hopefully thats the end of it and your on the home run

Woot woo for being in the 90s... not far of the 80s now baby!

Get well sweet pea we are all here for you...maybe we could all ninja up and go do a radical sleeve op on your doctors balls

LOL Nah not skinny yet. Infact I put on 10kg while in hospital! I was full of that much toxic fluid. SO I was 101kg after optifast, then went up to about 110kg, then its slowly come down...but since they've stopped the feeding tube a bit more has come off. I got on the scales today and was 93kg. I didn't even get a buzz though...I would gladly go back up to 110kg if I could have my health back. I hope his attitude changes as time wears on....in fact i'm sure it will, afteral I got the sleeve to lose weight so I have to keep that in mind. I just have to hope it doesn't come off too fast or they might put me back on the bloody feeding tube! Who'd have thought i'd have ever said those words...I hope I don't lose weight too fast.' lol How things change :)

ps How are you going Tara? Did you start a diary on the sleeve site? Give me a quick rundown missy :)

Hey girls, i'm back! Hope everyone is well. I trust the lovely Trish has been filling you in on all my drama's so you know what's been going on. Thankyou Trish! And Tara, for keeping you lovely ladies informed.

Well i'm still pretty sick and leaking like a sieve and have the community nurse coming around today to change my change. But thankgod i'm not leaking as much as I have been, so than can only mean the hole is getting smaller. I can't believe how long they take to close! I still can't believe I was one of those unlucky 2% bastards, I just can't believe it. Although I do think my surgeon somehow stuffed up...not intentionally...but something was amiss. Can't prove it though. So beside being sick i'm also extremely pissed off.

Now I just have to find that balance between getting enough nutrition in to keep healing to the hole, while not making my sick self any sicker but getting too much in. Its a hard thing to do. I just can't wait until this fecking hole is healed and I can these tubes out of me...I think I will start feeling much better then. The docs and specialists in Sydney reckon the hole will close, it'll just take time. How much time? No one really seems to know that.

They don't tell you any of this when you sign up. They tell you there is a small chance of complications or a leak, they tell you you might be hospital a little bit longer than normal and they tell you they have ways to fix the problems. Thy don't tell you you could be in hospital for three months, they don't tell you they might have to do multiple operations to fix the problem and they don't tell you they may not be able to fix it and have to swap you over to a by-pass etc... luckily I didn't get the by-pass even though my doc suggested it as the first possible fix! WTH. I had a cry about that so he tried other things instead....luckily or I could be sitting here with a by-pass which I definitely didn't want. Even though he did have to make a little loop from my bowel to sew up onto my stomach to relieve pressure. But I still do have my normal sleeve tum, he didn't alter any of that thankgod. I still want to eat SOME food! I'm getting sick of soup though. lol Ok better go, the nurse will be here soon.

Lovely to catch up with you girls and thanks for your well wishes when I was in hospital...much appreciated.

Big hugs
debs
