Hi Nicole. Sorry to hear about you troubles with your port. You will be right as rain when you get your port replaced. Shoot me a message on here if you need to or on facebook as I tend to go on that more than here.

My weight loss is alot slower than I would have hoped for but its still happening which is good. Some relatives of mine had the band quite some time ago and both of them needed 3 years to lose their weight. I don't care if I take 10 years as long as it comes off. Lol.

wow Jess and Sharon you have both lost so much weight.

I had the port removed 3 weeks ago and have to go back to get a new port in Dec. Cannot stop gaining weight at the moment and am almost back to my start weight.

My doctor told me that what happened to my port is rare and he hasn't seen it before himself but a few of his collegues have. Because of the hole in the side of the port and an infection i had around the port - led to the fluid in the band becoming infected and then leaking back into my body. For months I was having weird aches and pains in my joints and a break out in hives which I have never had before. As soon as the doctor took the fluid out it all stopped. I was so relieved!.
I cannot wait for December 7th to get a new port and hopefully get on track. I will probably have lots of questions for you guys as I am going to have to learn how to eat on the band again. I am so used to having no restriction that i take huge bites and don't chew properly - i can foresee some food blockages!

well I haven't been on here in ages not many people left any more.

Not much has changed with me I have finally hit the 40kg mark which is exciting but weight loss had been really slow last few months I have lost motivation but feel like I am slowly getting back into it again. Haven't seen my surgeon in ages...might be tine for a check up.

Thats not good about your leaky port. Hope the surgery goes well. And I hope all is well with your family.

ok, so definately a leak on the port. I had to have a gastroscopy to make sure there was no erosion into my stomach, but today it was confirmed everything else is working well, except the leaky port. I will go in on the 4th Oct to take out the leaky port, then 6 weeks later will have another put in. The reason for the 6 week wait is because I have an infection around the port site and they want to give it time to heal.

So by the end of November I should be well on my way to losing weight again and am now very excited!

It has been a while since I have been on here and I am glad to see how well some of you guys are doing.

Well, I had my son on the 20th June so it has been 8 weeks, and instead of losing weight after the birth I have started gaining again. :(

I went back to the doctor a month ago to start getting fills again, and was told that they think my band is leaking. Probably due to the needle pricking the outside of the port or the tube when they were looking for the port on a previous fill (this makes sense as I lost restriction a few months into the pregnancy and thought maybe the baby was moving the band out of place).
I go back tomorrow to confirm if it is leaking, as they measured the amount in my band last month and will compare to this month to see if the fluid has been leaking out.

I never really had the chance to start my weight loss journey as i fell pregnant so soon after the band surgery and am so eager to finally start losing weight!

I will let you know how I go tomorrow and if I need to have more surgery to fix leak.

30 klm trek through the bush sore and very tired but extremely satisfied with my new found energy !

Hi guys, just throught I'd drop in by - have just had a visit to the Dr after having to postpone two previous appointments cos I couldn't get away from work!! Was really pleased to find out I had actually lost another 2.5kg which now makes a total of 14.5kg since last July. Considerably slower than many of you - but it has continued on!! Another 10kg to go to hopefully my goal weight.
Bonuses since 12 months ago: - many clothes are fitting again - but nice to buy some "normal" clothes and so bought a few nice things: Shoes may have to be next as several pairs are now too wide and big!! didn't even think of that before. Confidence has taken a boost and so feeling more like going to social events where previously I had an excuse to get out of them....
Negatives since 12 months ago: ........... mmm, might have to get back to you on that, as I can't think of any!!

Hope everybody is continuing on with the battle and remember the good days will always counteract the bad days.

I have turned into a shoe-a-holic. I have so many pairs. My feet pre banding were so swollen nothing fit or if they fit looked terrible. I wore comfortable (granny) shoes. So I am enjoying a nice pair of shoes on my slimmer feet.

I think I might have to stop for a while now though if I dont want a divorce lol.

Hi Sharon - I know exactly what you mean!

I can now fit into 2 pairs of jeans that I stopped wearing about 4 years ago - and a linen shirt that had been stowed away "just in case" - has now proudly been worn again. One of the other things I've noticed is shoes becoming looser - hadn't even given that a thought before.

Good to hear about the clothes you are throwing out. I have a go through every week and give a bag to my Mum to take to the salvos. Needless to say my wardrobe is looking pretty light on but I am enjoying filling back up again. I am so loving not having to go to the large lady section and even tried on some size 16 levis the other day which fit. I can actually fit into size 14 target jeans. My top half lets me down though. I am still a size 18 up there.

I'm still on a go slow weight loss wise, even
with the increased activity. Bit frustrating, but I know just to hang
in - as lots of others have hit this spot before.

I now have a huge
incentive as we have a very posh wedding to go to next April - so that is 11 months to lose the next 12 kilos as I very much want to be into the nice slinky outfit and not looking like the "fat frumpy fifty" year old that they usually see. I have had to buy a couple of outfits to replace "Too too" big things - and it has been interesting trying to go past the loose non fitting tops which is what I tended to do before. It certainly helps having a fashion student daughter who loves doing "personal styling". She has had me in some combinations that I would never have thought of, but they worked!!

HOpe you are all having a positive week and letting the good brain beat the bad brain thoughts!

Hi all,

just thought I'd check in. Still awaiting the arrival of my baby with less than 6 weeks to go. I haven't been on to update my weight as it keeps on rising, so I will wait until the baby comes and go from there.

I have found that as my belly grows I have had less and less restriction which my doctor reckons may be due the band getting moved out of by the baby - since this he has not added anymore fluid and I feel like I am eating way too much. He reckons everything should go back to normal once the baby arrives, so fingers crossed. He was constantly adding fluid throughout the pregnancy so now I am a little worried that once they take out the bub (looks like another c-section for me) it will be too tight.

Some of you are doing so well and I can not wait to get back on the weight loss train with you.

Good luck and will be on to update once the baby comes.

I think I am back on track again. I had a fill on Tuesday which sees me with some good restriction. I now have 7.8 mls in my band. Which I am sure he said was a 14ml band. I wouldn't say I am at my sweet spot but its definately getting closer.
